I went to art school at The San Francisco Art Institute. In the early 1980's a lot of the most famous and some not as so famous Bay Area Painters were still on the faculty.

I was a pupil for a few years and it was difficult not to be seduced by the freedom of painting as a controlled messy endeavor.

Sometimes I still like to make a good mess.

This one is from 2007. It was 4' x 4' and the paint is relentlessly thick. The thing looked like a damned bas relief. Weighed as much too.
